Completing LTL Shipments - Pack Last

Learn how to create an LTL Pack Last shipment step by step to save time, reduce rework, and streamline your shipping process.

Updated over 4 weeks ago

The LTL Pack Last workflow lets sellers generate and confirm shipment splits before entering box-level packing details.

This launch delivers a stable, streamlined experience that meets the operational needs of Less-Than-Truckload shippers. This can save time, reduce rework, and possibly lower shipment costs.

Follow the steps below to create and complete an LTL Pack Last shipment.

Note: LTL Pack Last only supports printing labels in Box It with 2D barcodes.

  6. Choose Pack Last as your Pack Type.

Find It - Add Items to your Batch

  1. Proceed to adding your items to your batch.

  2. When finished, click Continue to Plan It.

Plan It - Select Placement Options

If you're a visual learner, check out our Plan It video below:

  1. In Plan It, you will be provided with different Placement Options. Review them and select yours.

Note: The Inbound Placement fee is only the inbound fee. The shipping fees won’t be available until later, at the Ship It step.

    1. You can hover over any warehouse ID to see its city, state, and distance from your Ship From address.

    2. You can sort the Placement options by Inbound Placement Fee or Total Destinations.

    3. You can also Generate New Options if the suggested ones don’t work for you.

  2. Select a Placement Option.

  3. Review the details on the right side of your screen.

  4. If you are satisfied with the results, click Confirm Placement Option at the bottom. Here, you can also print your Shipping Manifests.

Note: Once you confirm your placement option choice, you’ll need to either cancel the shipment within one hour or deliver it to Amazon. Make sure you have the one you want selected.

Box It - Packing Your Shipment

Note: If you haven’t already, consider watching the main Box It video (covers boxing shortcuts, item labels, and common Box It behavior). The steps and video below only cover what’s unique to the Pack Last flow.

In this step, how you’ll submit box contents is crucial. If you use 2D barcodes, Amazon may take longer to process your shipment, but you won’t need to enter box weights or dimensions. Your shipping charges are calculated using only pallet details, and you can print your FBA box labels for any box as soon as it’s packed.

If you prefer to use feeds or keep Box Contents off, you’ll need to provide accurate weight and dimension details for each box. Labels for these shipments can only be printed at the Ship It step. If your boxes aren’t identical, we recommend printing and applying packing ID labels now so they can be matched easily later.

  1. Continue boxing your items.

    1. You can see your confirmed placement option by hovering over the code in your Shipment.

    2. You can print your Pick List, a list of inventory items in the selected batch, broken down by packing group and box, by clicking the Printing Icon in the Box It Overview.

  2. Once you have finished with Box It, click Next on the bottom right corner of your screen.

Ship It - Finalize Your Shipment

If you're a visual learner, check out our Ship It for LTL Pack Last video below:

  1. Select your Ship Date and click Confirm. This is the date the shipment will be ready for pickup.

  2. In Ship It, you can see your confirmed Placement Option from Plan It. You will also be able to see and add your pallet details for each shipment in your Placement Option Inspector.

    1. Here, you can add pallet details for each shipment.

    2. Print your Pallet Labels or Box Labels for each of your shipments.

You can use the “On Pallet” checkboxes to keep track of which pallet is where, but this is optional.

    3. Add New Pallets.

  3. Once you have inspected your shipment, click Get Shipment Costs.

  4. You can now see your Carrier.

    1. If you’d like to see your alternatives, select the Carrier field.

    2. Click the X on the right.

    3. Click Type to select a carrier. This will reveal all available options.

Note: Partnered carriers automatically set Freight Class to N/A. For non-partnered carriers, enter the correct Freight Class and add PRO numbers for each pallet. Additionally, Ship It gives 20 minutes to select a partnered carrier before options reset. Therefore, we recommend that sellers print pallet labels from the success screen to avoid running out of time.

  5. If everything looks good, click Purchase Labels.

  6. Tick the box to Accept fees and shipment charges and click Create Shipment.

  7. And you're done.

Once your shipment is created, you can:

    1. Close the Batch

    2. Print Box and Shipping Labels

    3. Print Packing Lists

    4. Print Pallet Labels

    5. Print Bill of Lading

And that’s it. You’ve successfully created an LTL Pack Last shipment.
