Amazon Errors During Listing (Common Issues & Fixes)

Updated today

Why am I seeing errors when listing products on Amazon?

Errors usually happen when Amazon detects missing, incorrect, or unsupported information in your listings or account setup within Amazon Seller Central.

Most issues are easy to fix once identified.

Common Errors and How to Fix Them

1. Invalid Marketplace

What it means:

The listing is being sent to a marketplace that is not active in your account.

How to fix:

  • Check if the marketplace (US, UK, etc.) is enabled

  • Update the correct marketplace in your feed

  • Make sure your account is fully active

2. Missing Required Attributes

What it means:

Important product details are missing (e.g., brand, size, material).

How to fix:

  • Fill in all required fields

  • Check your feed mapping

  • Ensure category-specific attributes are included

3. Missing Offer

What it means:

The product exists, but it has no price or quantity.

How to fix:

  • Add price and stock quantity

  • Check fulfillment settings

  • Re-submit the listing

4. Invalid Value / Invalid Attribute

What it means:

Some values don’t match Amazon’s accepted format.

How to fix:

  • Use valid values (e.g., standard sizes, colors)

  • Avoid unsupported text or symbols

  • Adjust mapping rules if needed

5. GTIN / Product ID Errors

What it means:

The barcode is invalid, missing, or conflicts with Amazon’s catalog.

How to fix:

  • Use a valid UPC/EAN/ISBN

  • Or apply for GTIN exemption

  • Ensure the brand matches the exemption

6. Potential Mismatch (Detail Page Conflict)

What it means:

Your product details don’t match Amazon’s existing catalog.

How to fix:

  • Align title, images, and product details

  • Avoid changing key product identity fields

  • Submit correct product information

7. Restricted Product or Category

What it means:

The product requires approval before listing.

How to fix:

  • Apply for category approval

  • Submit required documents

  • Wait for Amazon approval before listing

8. Image Errors

What it means:

Images do not meet Amazon’s requirements.

How to fix:

  • Use a pure white background for the main image

  • Remove text, logos, or extra elements

  • Upload high-quality images

9. Variation Errors

What it means:

Products are not properly grouped as variations.

How to fix:

  • Use correct variation theme (size, color, etc.)

  • Ensure all child items have consistent attributes

  • Rebuild the variation if needed

10. Account Not Active / Verification Required

What it means:

Your account is not fully approved.

How to fix:

  • Complete identity and payment verification

  • Wait for Amazon to activate your account

  • Retry listing after activation
