Each item added to an FBA batch must have a label owner: Seller, Amazon, or None. You can control this through the Label Owner field in the Product Information area and your Seller Central settings.
Selecting a Label Type
Locate the Label Owner field under Product Information.
βSeller or None will be selected by default. If Seller is currently selected, you can click the dropdown to select Amazon.
β
Seller: With this option, you will be responsible for labeling your items before sending them to Amazon.
Amazon: Selecting this option means that Amazon will label your items. Keep in mind that there's a fee for this service, and processing time is usually longer.
None: This option uses an item's UPC, EAN, JAN, or ISBN for tracking purposes. No label will print out for items that are eligible for this feature.
Seller Central Label Preferences
Within your Seller Central account settings, you can choose between using manufacturer barcodes (None) or Amazon barcodes (Seller) to track items once they arrive at the FBA warehouses. You also have the option to have Amazon label your items for you for a per-unit fee (Amazon).
Manufacturer Barcode (None): By default, Amazon has new sellers set to commingle their items. This goes by a lot of names, including "Stickerless, Commingled Inventory," "commingling," "manufacturer barcode," and "virtual tracking." This option uses an item's UPC, EAN, JAN, or ISBN for tracking purposes.
If you'd prefer to label the items yourself (Seller), you can turn this setting off. To turn Off Stickerless, Commingled Inventory:
Seller Central > Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon > FBA Product Barcode Preference
Click Edit
Select Amazon barcode
Click Update
To turn On Stickerless, Commingled Inventory:
Seller Central > Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon > FBA Product Barcode Preference
Click Edit
Select Manufacturer barcode
Click Update
If you need help deciding which preference to choose, the following Seller Central help articles will explain the major differences between the two:
Amazon Barcode (Seller): With this option, the item will be tracked by an FNSKU unique to you, which will be printed on your label. If you prefer to label all items yourself, you'll want to make sure "Amazon barcode" is selected as your FBA Product Barcode Preference in Seller Central as described in the steps above.
For info on requirements when labeling items yourself, please see Use Amazon barcodes to track inventory.
FBA Label Service (Amazon): You can have Amazon print and apply FNSKU barcode labels for your items for a per-item fee. We have some instructions on how to turn on/off this setting below.
