How to Add an IMEI Number for Cellphone Listings on Mercari?

When exporting cellphone listings to Mercari, you may need to provide the device's IMEI or MEID number.

An IMEI is a unique 15-digit identification number assigned to phones and mobile broadband devices that operate on GSM networks. Some devices may instead have an MEID number, which is used for devices operating on CDMA networks.

Where to Add the IMEI or MEID?

You can add the required IMEI or MEID information directly to your listing in ExportYourStore using the Listing Editor.

Before exporting your cellphone listing to Mercari, open the listing in Listing Editor and add the IMEI or MEID to the appropriate Item Specific field.

This ensures that the required device information is included when preparing the listing for export.

Tip: You can also make sure the IMEI or MEID is available in your source listing, such as your eBay listing, before exporting it to Mercari.

Adding the IMEI in Listing Editor

  1. Open Listings in ExportYourStore.

  2. Select the cellphone listing you want to edit.

  3. Open the Listing Editor.

  4. Go to Category Specifics.

  5. Find the IMEI or MEID field.

  6. Enter the device's IMEI or MEID number.

  7. Save your changes.

You can add the IMEI directly in the Category Specifics section of the Listing Editor, as shown in the screenshot below.

How to Find Your IMEI or MEID?

You can usually find your device's IMEI or MEID by:

  • Dialing *#06# on the device keypad.

  • Checking the original device packaging.

  • Checking the SIM card tray or physical device.

  • Going to the device settings.

For Apple devices:

Settings > General > About

For Android devices, the location may vary by device, but you can generally find it under:

Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI/MEID Information

Why Is the IMEI or MEID Important?

Mercari may require sellers to provide the IMEI or MEID when listing applicable mobile devices, such as iPhones and other cellphones.

This information helps identify the device and allows buyers to verify important device details, including whether the phone may be compatible with their carrier or has been blocked.

After receiving the device, buyers may also verify that the IMEI or MEID matches the information provided in the listing.

Before Exporting to Mercari

Before exporting a cellphone listing, make sure:

  • The correct IMEI or MEID is available.

  • The IMEI or MEID is entered in the appropriate Item Specific field.

  • The listing information is saved before exporting.

  • The IMEI or MEID matches the actual device being sold.

Adding the IMEI or MEID through Listing Editor helps ensure the required device information is included in your Mercari listing.
